MULTIMEDIA ART for K-2nd grade

This class will be aimed at our younger aspiring artists out there. Betsy will, as always,
adapt her teaching plan to the class size and the experience of each individual. The students will experiement with colors
and shapes in classes where to object is to finish a new project each week in order to keep the interest and attention of
the children.

This program includes a
little bit of everything! Students will have the chance to learn about and produce artwork with acrylics, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, watercolor pencil, and charcoal. As always, Betsy will be able to give both group and
individual instruction in her class, and students will discover new media and techniques.

Older art students will work on more advanced projects that span over a longer period of time. Students will
learn about, and produce
artwork with, acrylics, watercolor,
pastels, pen and ink, watercolor pencil, and charcoal. Betsy will be able
to give both group and individual instruction in her class, and students will discover new media and techniques.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Betsy McGrew (Art, K-12th grade) Betsy moved to Alaska from Georgia in
August of 2010. She holds an Associates of Science in Commercial Art degree from Southern Arkansas University/Technical Branch
and she also studied Graphic Design and Illustration at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.Working with children and youth has
been a big part of Betsy’s life; from teaching individual art lessons, to being a substitute teacher in the arts.
Betsy has an extensive background and great talent as a mural painter and she has worked on several AFAA theater productions
as a backdrop designer. She is glad to be teaching at the Academy, diving into shadow and light, hues and values and
