Desiree N Banks (Anime)
Desiree is working to
achieve a degree as an English major, and an Art minor. Her plans are to become an English teacher in Japan and Korea,
and possibly do Art on the side. In December of 2009 she transferred from Chaminade University of Honolulu Hawaii to
the University of Alaska Anchorage. She has been drawing for as long as she can remember, and is proficient in most
forms of it. She specialize in Anime/Manga style art as well as charcoal portraits.
Betsy McGrew (HS & after school art) Betsy moved to Alaska from Georgia last August. She holds an Associates of Science in Commercial Art degree
from Southern Arkansas University/Technical Branch and she also studied Graphic Design and Illustration at the University
of Arkansas at Little Rock. Working with children and youth has been a big part of Betsy’s life; from teaching individual art lessons,
to being a substitute teacher in the arts. Betsy has an extensive background and great talent as a mural painter and
she has worked on several AFAA theater productions as a backdrop designer. She is glad to be teaching at the Academy,
diving into shadow and light, hues and values and of course some great fun! To see some of Betsy’s art work, check out
her art portfolio at the AFAA front desk.
