Guitar instruction is available as both private lessons and our group Guitar Ensemble.
James just graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelors Degree in music education (including Musical Honors). He attended Palmer High School from 2008-2012 where his love of music grew. He has recently enjoyed, playing principle soprano, alto, tenor, and bari saxophone in sax ensemble, principle alto sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, and percussion in the university wind ensemble, basset horn in clarinet ensemble, and bass guitar in jazz ensemble. He has studied with Dr. Mark Wolbers, Rick Zelinsky, and John Mckimmey. James gigs around Anchorage with a small fusion band and still finds time to arrange, compose, and record music for the university theater department as well as the UAA Mo-Town, UAA saxophone ensemble, and the UAA Wind Ensemble. He plans on getting his doctorate in music composition and teach at a university.
Art A. Braendel
Art was born and raised in Eagle River and has been involved in music since early childhood. He got his first guitar in 1964 and has been playing ever since. He played in rock & roll bands in the 1960’s, and has worked in church music programs and served as interim music director. He attained an Associate of Arts degree from UAA with emphasis in vocal performance and an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science. He has performed in many church seasonal presentations as both cast member and vocal performer. He performs in music and theater productions at the Academy. Art also works on sets, sound, lighting and construction. He is currently Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Alaska Fine Arts Academy. He is an Army veteran and retired senior fire officer with the Anchorage Fire Department.
