Sara grew up with a strong classical foundation studying under Victoria Bartlett-Roche (Athol, MA) and continuing her studies at UAA with Derek Delgado (Anchorage, AK) and Dr. Timothy Smith (Anchorage, AK). She has also studied briefly under jazz instructors Mark Marquis (Leominster, MA) and Karen Strid-Chadwick (Anchorage, AK). Her experience in jazz ensembles, accompanying the UAA concert choir and two senior vocal recitals, marching band, concert band and small chamber ensembles has given her a musical experience and appreciation that has greatly influenced her teaching style. Her completion of a Music Education Bachelor’s Degree from UAA has also strengthened her musical background. She started teaching in 2006 and has taught in New England, Australia, and Alaska. She enjoys writing, composing, exploring the new technologies in the keyboard world and sharing her joy of music through teaching.
